About this property

Welcome to Waikiki Village Retro Hotel

Located just a two-minute walk from the beach along South Ocean Boulevard, Waikiki Village Retro Hotel offers a nostalgic stay in a family-run 1960s-style building. Guests can expect simple accommodations, some equipped with kitchenettes, blending modest comfort with a laid-back atmosphere. The property includes an outdoor pool and provides free WiFi throughout, catering to those seeking practical amenities without the frills of larger resorts.

The hotel’s convenient positioning places it close to popular Myrtle Beach attractions such as Broadway at the Beach, SkyWheel Myrtle Beach, and Family Kingdom Amusement Park, all easily reachable for day trips. Myrtle Beach International Airport is only a short drive away, enhancing accessibility for travelers. Nearby hotels offer a variety of options, but Waikiki Village stands out for its straightforward charm and a welcoming environment supportive of LGBTQ+ guests.

Guest reviews highlight spacious and clean rooms, with several praising the helpfulness of the staff, especially when accommodating booking issues or room changes. While the retro style is appealing to many, some guests note occasional noise and dated facilities, reflecting an ongoing renovation process aimed at improvement. The hotel's location across from the beach and off the main strip adds to its appeal for those prioritizing proximity over luxury.

Check-in is from 4 PM with check-out by 11 AM, and while the hotel offers a quiet retreat for visitors wanting easy access to the coast, some may find the simple, older-style rooms better suited for short stays or budget-conscious travelers looking for a no-nonsense base in Myrtle Beach.

The rooms were spacious and clean. All of the amenities were available. It's best to book through Airriva. If we did have any issues, they are quick to respond by text. An employee was always timely in responding to our needs, so it's best to contact them by phone rather than the lobby. Even though there was a lot of loud traffic due to bike week, we didn't hear the noise in the room overnight. Overall, the stay was very nice.

Me and my fiancé took a small getaway trip from Atlanta. And I must say I was impressed, The rooms were clean and newly renovated. It was quiet right across the street from the beach. The price was great. Would definitely stay again and recommend. My one negative was the deposit. Other than that great place.

Giving them 5 stars because they were able to accommodate us after some issues trying to book online. We arrived to Myrtle on Sunday and decided to stay the night when we got there they couldn’t find our reservation however the front desk girl was able to book us a two bedroom suite which was nice and spacious. The room had upgraded appliances and beds carpet did have some stains but the room smelled clean and sheets were clean plenty of towels were provided. For one night It was convenient, comfortable, and close to the beach which is what we wanted. Around night time it does get a little noisy and hectic but overall it was a nice stay for an affordable price!

When I got to the Waikiki village hotel I was greeted in a very friendly inviting manner and I was allowed to check into my room early. There were some complications at first as the room wasn’t up to par with expectations. These Issues were promptly resolved as the staff worked with me to get into a nicer room than the one I booked. Maggie and Iris were awesome as they gave it there all to make my stay as best as it could be, and they blew my expectations out of the water. Though I had to jump around rooms due to lack of availability, it didn’t hinder my experience in the slightest as no other hotel went to such great lengths to accommodate me. My biggest issue is the ice machine as it has constant problem and I hope they can get a new one soon. I would defiantly come back for my next stay at Myrtle beach!!

The location was great, across the street from the beach. It was a very laid back atmosphere. We arrived after 2 a.m. and true, there wasn't a clerk, but she had us checked in virtually and we didn't have to wait even one second from car to room. The hot tub and pool area are cozy and the rooms are nicely updated. Definitely a nice stay if you're not into the big high rise resorts.

Great experience despite my first impression of the area behind the hotel. It is next to a parking garage but that was not an issue during my stay. Property is well lit and right on the main strip. Iris was wonderful. She was warm, welcoming, and very helpful during check-in. She was more than willing to take us to look at rooms before checking in. The lobby was nicely designed and furnished, so was the room. Pool was nice as well. My only complaints, which are very minor, are that I wish they had a clock, phone, laundry bag, and do not distub sign, in the room. The ice machine wasn't working. It would be good to offer something in the mornings even if just a simple grab and go. However, they do have a sitting area that has a TV, tea/coffee, and microwave. Would stay there again.

Stayed here this past weekend. The room shocked me by how nice and big it was. Also had a living room area separate from the room with a TV, a sofa bed, fridge, microwave, large counter with dishes and a sink but no stove. So technically it can sleep 4 people comfortably. Non smoking but the room comes with a balcony, so you can smoke outside. A door you can close to separate the room and living room. Both rooms have a big TV. The bathroom has a stand up shower with the toilet. The bathroom sink an mirror is in the walk way in between the room and living room for more convenience. The bathroom and shower floor are rough and looks terrible so bring shower shoes... The A/C unit blew snowballs, helped me sleep perfectly... Other than that it's a very nice place to stay... And this place is also a 1 minute walk to the beach. Liquor store 1 minute away also.

The rooms were nice and very clean. They are in the process of renovating, however the rooms are still nice. We had an issue when we first got there, the toilet was leaking, but maintenance came and management decided to switch us to another room. Her name was Maggie. She was very nice and very accommodating. She didn't act like we were a burden for having to change rooms. At check in, She gave us her personal number so that we could contact her if we needed anything. She is a very sweet woman, and responded almost instantly each time I text or called her. I strongly recommend this hotel. It's not oceanfront, but it's a 2 min walk right across the street. It's conveniently located also. There are shops and restaurants in walking distance. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean. We will definitely be back. And thank you again to Maggie!! She definitely made us feel comfortable and welcome!!
